Join us and learn all about The Sankofa Healing Institute's newest offering! Our time together will include:

  • A guided meditation practice with Dr. Shelly to give you a feel for what our monthly meetings will be like

  • A description of the content and structure of the membership community

  • A FREE MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP if you decide to join us

MEMBERSHIP FEATURES

Here are a few features of our Meditation & Healing Practices Membership Community. More details will be provided at the Intro Session.

  • Monthly Communal Meditation Practice

We will meet at the end of each month in community for a guided meditation or healing practice. Time will be provided for debriefing and dialogue about the experience. Practices will include guided meditations, contemplative and wisdom-centered practices, "Music for the Soul" Listening Sessions, journaling from provided prompts (including Adinkra Journaling!), Sankofa-oriented healing practices, movement-based practices, and more. All practices will incorporate attention to cultural and liberatory aspects of healing, with intentional emphasis on applications to healing in the context of racial and intersectional oppression.

  • Members-Only Online Community Space

At SHI we believe that connection is the foundation for our healing and our well-being. Our members-only space will be infused with care and respect. We are committed to cultivating a positive and supportive atmosphere. We envision a space to share relevant resources and reflections (on meditation, contemplative practices, healing, embodiment, wellness, etc.). We will periodically post brief video practices from Dr. Shelly and guest teachers. We will also offer "pop-up" meditation and healing events (some only for members this space, some inclusive of members of other SHI community spaces, and some open to the public).

  • Access to Recordings of our 1st Mondays Meditations

Our 1st Mondays free Community Meditations have been going strong for a couple of years. It is a beautiful space for centering and guided practice. Until now, these recordings have not been available. Joining our Meditation & Healing Practices Group will give you access to the recordings of these meditations. We encourage listening weekly to immerse in the month's theme, as well as posting your reflections in our members-only online space. Past recordings will be available to you as long as you are a member and you can return to any of them as relevant to your healing and growth.
